Sri Lanka stocks close 0.11-pct higher on Distilleries
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s stocks gained 0.11 percent at close on Friday, pushed up by Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka, provisional data showed.
The All Share Price Index (ASPI) at the Colombo Stock Exchange closed 6.79 points up at 5,991.29.
Sri Lanka’s stocks gained throughout the week.
Opening at a daily low, ASPI reached an intra-day high of 5,996.32 in the afternoon trading near the psychological 6,000 mark.
The S&P SL20 index of most liquid stocks closed 0.05 percent or 1.38 points up at 2,878.28.
Market turnover was 492.72 million rupees, while 53 stocks gained and 58 fell.
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka Plc, the island’s largest alcohol producer gained 30 cents to close at 17.80 rupees a share, contributing most to the ASPI’s gain.
LB Finance closed 5.20 rupees up at 160.00 rupees a share and Richard Pieris and Company closed 30 cents up at 11.40 rupees a share, also contributing to the ASPI gain. (Colombo/Jan 24/2020)
