Omega Line in US$24mn Sri Lanka lingerie factory expansion

ECONOMYNEXT – Omega Line, which makes lingerie sold by Italian brands, plans to expand its Sri Lankan factory with an investment of about 24 million US dollars, the investment promotion agency said.

The Board of Investment said it signed an agreement with Omega Line Limited to reconstruct the factory building complex at the existing premises at Sandalankawa as an expansion of the existing project.

Vincenzo Joppolo, chairman of Omega Line Group in Sri Lanka, said the firm is part of Italy’s Calzedonia group which has over 4,600 shops in 42 countries in Europe, USA, Japan, China and South Korea.

“The Omega Line factory will producing lingerie sold under the brands of Intimissimi, Tezenis, Calzedonia and Falconeri.

“A very significant part of this agreement is that the new factory which will be built, will have an area of 17,000 sq meters with much more modern machinery and will be employing over 3,000 staff,” he said.
